North Florida will take on the Florida Atlantic Owls in what will be a match-up of divisional rivals under the lights. Both teams earned bids to the SELC tournament last season and are hoping to be there again. FAU comes into the game with two wins over teams in SELC North. With only nine returners from last years squad, it will yet again be a new look team for UNF to figure out.
The Owls offense will come into tonight's game averaging 15.0 goals per game while UNF's defense averages 8.5 goals against. On offense the Owls return three Honorable-Mention All Conference players in attack-man Reagan Griffith and Seth Travis, as well as midfielder Ricky Melvin.
Face-offs could be a huge part of the game just as they were last year. UNF's duo of Tye McGhee and Steph Rotolante went 13 for 16 in last years game and come into the contest with a 60% win percentage this season. FAU deployed six different players to try and slow them down last season.
Defensively for the Owls there will be a new goalie in cage against UNF as Jason Conner and Colby Blackburn do not appear to be on the roster this season. The Dirty Bird offense rolls into the contest averaging 13.0 goals per game while FAU's defense averages 8.5 goals against. Jason Randolph will look to repeat his performance against the Owls as he was able to put up 4 goals and 1 assist in last years contest.
On paper it appears to be an even match-up that could have huge play-off implications.
